Please be advised that effective 1st September 2023, no live animals will be allowed on FLIGHTS wit​h transit in Kuwait through Kuwait International airport either as Cargo or baggage due to non-availability of dedicated facilities to handle LIVE ANIMALS DURING TRANSIT TIMES. ​​​​

Live Animal Transportation - Requirements of transporting Live Animals To/From Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

1. Arrival – Passenger should Register in (Naama) website before traveling - https://naama.sa/

2. Departure – Passenger should visit King Abdulaziz Airport Cargo Building, Ministry of Environment water Branch to get written approval and permits for the assisted animal

3. Import license from importing country

4. Importing country's veterinary health requirements

5. Copy of Identity Card, Residence, Passport or Commercial Register (Companies).

6. Copy of Veterinary Health Certificate of Veterinary Clinic Certified by Ministry to be accredited by the health clinic in the Ministry's branch/office in which the pet is located, noting that the animals were clinical, and laboratory examined and verified free of diseases, especially (rabies and arc disease).

7. Copy of pet passport or vaccination booklet showing vaccinations.

8. Electronic chip number: the pet must be identified by electronic chip or any other method of identification

Effective August 1, 2024, ALL dogs (including service dogs) arriving in the United States by air must:

Requirements for all dogs

  • Must be microchipped with an international standards organization (ISO)-compatible microchip prior to travel into the US.
  • Microchip information must be included on importation documents. CDC-Rabies-Vaccination-and-Microchip-Form
  • Dogs must be at least six months old.
  • Must be accompanied with an airwaybill (AWB)regardless of whether dogs were transported as cargo, checked baggage, or hand carried baggage on all flights.
  • Importer (i.e. passenger) must submit a “CDC Dog Import Form” via a CDC approved system prior to travel to the US.
  • Upon arrival at a US port, importer must present a receipt that they completed the form to the airline before boarding.
  • CDC’s required forms need to be endorsed by official government veterinarians in the exporting country.
Additional entry requirements depend on which countries the dog has been in during the past 6 months and where the dog was vaccinated against rabies. 

Requirements for dogs from DMRVV-Free or DMRVV Low-Risk Countries

  • Can arrive at any port.
  • In lieu of CDC vaccination form, importer can provide proof that dogs have been in DMRVV-free or DMRVV low-risk countries only during the six months prior to arriving in the US.

Requirements for dogs from DMRVV High-Risk Countries

  • For all dogs that have been in high-risk countries in the last six months, regardless of whether foreign or US vaccinated, importer must submit standardized vaccination form verifying the rabies vaccination status of the dog.
  • Permits dogs that have been in DMRVV high-risk countries in the past six months and have a valid US issued rabies vaccination form to arrive at any US port. However, prior to travel the dog owner must obtain a form titled “Certification of US-issued Rabies Vaccination” that must be completed and signed by a USDA accredited veterinarian. The form must be presented by the importer to the airline to board the dog on its return flight to the US.
  • Dogs that have been in high-risk countries in the past six months and were vaccinated in a foreign country can only arrive at a US airport with a CDC quarantine station and a CDC registered ACF. The importer must have a reservation at the CDC registered ACF and have their dog undergo a veterinary exam and revaccination with a USDA licensed rabies vaccine at a CDC registered ACF. The importer must obtain a rabies serologic test from a CDC approved laboratory for their foreign vaccinated dog demonstrating adequate titer levels. If they cannot do so, the dog must remain in quarantine for 28 days after revaccination.
  • Rabies vaccination form for foreign vaccinated dogs from DMRVV high-risk countries must also be endorsed by a government official in the exporting country. The form is called the “Certification of Foreign Rabies Vaccination and Microchip.”
  • CDC can prohibit or otherwise restrict the importation of dogs into the US from certain countries that have a history of exporting dogs infected with DMRVV or have demonstrated a lack of appropriate veterinary controls to prevent the exportation of rabid dogs.

How to Carry Pets in Cabin

Please note that pets are not allowed to be carried in the passenger cabin on Kuwait Airways.The final rule revises the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) regulations on the transportation of service animals by air, with the intent to provide reasonable accommodations for individuals traveling with service animals while balancing those needs with the health and safety of other passengers and crew.

Transport of a service or psychiatric service animal in the cabin is free of charge on flights to/from USA KU117/118.

1. Definition of Service Animal

A service animal is as a dog, regardless of breed or type, that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a qualified individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.

2. Emotional Support Animals

Emotional support animals are no longer considered as service animals and will be treated as carriage of pets in the cargo compartment (AVIH) and subject to pet in hold (AVIH) charges.

3. Psychiatric Service Animals

Psychiatric service animals are treated the same as other service animals that are individually trained to do work or perform a task for the benefit of a qualified individual with a disability.

4. Health, Behavior and Training Form

Passengers are required to remit a completed hardcopy or electronic version of the Department’s “U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Air Transportation Form” as a condition of transportation. Please refer to U.S. DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form

5. Relief Attestation

Individuals traveling with a service animal on flights eight hours or longer to remit a completed hardcopy or electronic version the Department’s “U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Relief Attestation” as a condition of transportation. Passengers to complete and submit a DOT form attesting that the animal has the ability either not to relieve itself on a long flight or to relieve itself in a sanitary manner. The form also requires the service animal user to attest to an understanding that the airline may charge passengers with disabilities traveling with a service animal for the cost to repair damage caused by the passenger’s service animal. 6. Number of Service Animals per Passenger

The number of service animals traveling with a single passenger with a disability is limited two service animals.

7. Large Service Animals

The service animal should fit on the passengers lap or within its passengers foot space on the aircraft.

8. Control of Service Animals

Service animals to be harnessed, leashed, or otherwise tethered in areas of the airport that they own, lease, or control, and on the aircraft, without encroaching into the space of another passenger. Transportation of service animal would be denied if the animal would not safely fit in the passenger lap or foot space.

9. Check-In Requirements

Passenger with a disability seeking to travel with a service animal shall submit the 2 completed and signed service animal form(s) at the passenger’s departure gate on the date of travel. Passenger traveling with a service animal are required to submit two DOT created forms:
1. A certification of a service animal’s good behavior and training and a certification of good health.
2. For flight segments of eight hours or more, a certification that the animal would not need to relieve itself or could relieve itself in a way that does not create a health or sanitation risk.

10. Advance Notice Requirements

Passenger traveling with a service animal shall provide a U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Air Transportation Form and, if applicable, a U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Relief Attestation up to 48 hours in advance of the date of travel.

11. Denying Transportation to a Service Animal

Three reasons to deny transportation to a service animal:
1. The animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
2. The animal causes a significant disru​ption in the aircraft or at the airport.
3. The passenger failed to complete an Air Transportation Form or a Relief Form.

12. Charging for Damage

The final rule allows airlines to charge passengers traveling with service animals for any damage to the aircraft caused by the passenger’s service animal, so long as the airline charges passengers without disabilities for similar repairs or damage.

 
 

Transport Regulation for Animals on Board

  • Pets should be accompanied by a valid Health Certificate and Vaccination Certificates, Entry Permits, and other documents required by country of entry or transit. Certain countries have strict quarantine regulations and hence rules must be verified before travelling.
  • Please also note that you should contact the Kuwait Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAF) for further details regarding Health Certificate, Vaccination Certificates, Entry Permits, and other documents required by the country of entry or transit (info@paaf.gov.kw)
  • The animals (if more than one) should be in different Pet Containers for their safety.
  • Dimensions of the Pet Container must be related to the actual size of the animal for which the Container is constructed and must allow the animal to stand and sit upright, turn and lie down in a natural manner.
  • The Pet Container must not cause the animal to damage itself, all inside edges must be smooth and rounded.
  • The Pet Container must be constructed of nontoxic material and the floor of the Container should be solid and leak-proof and without any wheels.
  • The door must be constructed so that accidental opening cannot occur either from the inside or outside.
  • The mesh on the Pet Container must be nose and paw proof to avoid injury to the animal and handlers.
  • The Pet Container must be adequately ventilated on at least three sides with most of the ventilation being provided on the upper part of the Container.
  • Separate food and water troughs with food and water must be provided either fixed inside the Container or attached to it so that the animals are able to access them during the journey.
  • Refund for Animals on Board Transportation : Should there be a significant delay (delay more than 6 hours) or cancellation of the flight; should the passenger with Animal on Board decides not to continue the flight, then refund of Pet in hold is applicable.

as per UK approval received from the Animal and Plant Agency of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural affairs, Kuwait Airways accept Pets for Carriage as Cargo and to Kuwait Only, (no attendant available in transit (KUWAIT) to look after Pet).Carriage of live animals and birds is allowed to be carried on flights from London to Kuwait as checked baggage or commercial cargo .
From Kuwait to London can be accepted as freight with Airway Bill.
Kindly note that the above is not valid for KWI/MAN/KWI sector .
