Effective 20 January 2020, Kuwait Airways is launching Pre-paid Excess Baggage booked in advance with 15% discount over the normal Excess Baggage fees applied at the check-in counter.

General terms and conditions
  • Pre-paid Excess Bags can be purchased Online, Mobile, APP, Kuwait Airways Office or Call center (171).
  • Pre-paid Excess Bags is applicable on Kuwait Airways operated flights only and is based on the Origin & destination per passenger. Refer to the table below.
  • Pre-paid Excess Bags are not available for purchase through Web Check-In.
  • Pre-paid Excess Bags will be available for purchase online until 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the flight.
  • Within 24 hours prior to departure the excess baggage will be charged at the normal check-in counter rates at the check-in counter.
  • The pre-paid excess baggage should not exceed 23 KG for economy cabin and 32 KG for Business, Royal and First cabins per piece.
  • Over - size/over - weight or both are applicable only at the Check-in counters.
  • Pre-paid Excess bags, if unused, cannot be refunded but can be utilized on Kuwait Airways flights within one Year from the date of issue of the Pre-paid Excess Baggage service.
  • Pre-paid Excess bags is not applicable for infants.
  • Pre-paid Excess bags purchased cannot be transferred to another passenger.
  • Certain routes are not eligible for Pre-paid Excess baggage service.
  • Special baggage such as sports equipment/musical instrument, overweight, oversize bags, pets in hold are not eligible for Pre-paid Excess Baggage discounts.
  • In case of NO SHOW the Pre-paid Excess Baggage fee will not be refunded.
  • In case the passenger fails to present the Pre-paid Excess bag at check-in counter, then the Pre-paid Excess Baggage will not be refunded. However, it can be utilized as Pre-paid Excess Baggage Service for future flights within 01 year from date of issue of the Pre-paid Excess Baggage Service.

Pre-paid Excess Baggage Fee Rates:

  • Pre-paid Excess Baggage Fee rates are in Kuwaiti Dinar. Pre-paid Excess Baggage charges will be applied in the same currency as your ticket at the prevailing rate of exchange.
  • Pre-paid rates are per additional piece of excess baggage.
  • There are no pre-paid rates for overweight or oversize.
Voluntary change for Pre-paid Excess Baggage:
  • Same segment flight or date change: Changeable through all channels: Online, Mobile, APP, Kuwait Airways Office and Call center (171).
    • Pre-paid Excess Baggage will be transferred with no additional charge.
  • Segment Change: Change cannot be performed online/mobile/APP. Changeable through any Kuwait Airways Office or via our Call center (171) with the applicable fees as below:
    • If difference in the Pre-paid Excess Baggage fees is higher than original fees, then difference is to be paid.
    • If no difference in the Pre-paid Excess Baggage fees from the original fees, no additional charge to be collected.
    • If difference in the Pre-paid Excess Baggage fees is lower than the original fees, it will be honored with no refund for the residual amount.
    • In case if the aircraft characteristic does not include additional baggage allowance, then the passenger can avail a refund for the same or the paid fee can be utilized on Kuwait Airways flights within one Year from the date of issue of the Pre-paid Excess Baggage service.
Involuntary Changes for Pre-paid Excess Baggage:
  • In case of change in aircraft Type, the reservation system will automatically reassign baggage.
  • In case if the aircraft characteristic does not include additional baggage allowance, then the passenger can avail refund for the same or can be utilized on Kuwait Airways flights within one Year from the date of issue of the Pre-paid Excess Baggage service.
  • If the flight is cancelled & no re-accommodation is offered, then a refund claim is to be requested by the passenger.
Refund Process
  • Booking done through Kuwait Airways Website/mobile/APP: passenger to email ibe_refund@kuwaitairways.com.
  • Bookings made through Kuwait Airways Office/call center: passenger to contact the respective issuance office where the e-ticket was issued.
  • Bookings made through travel agents: passengers to contact the respective travel agent where the e-ticket was issued.
